What we can use

Your answers, your headshot and any place photos you send, your first name and last initial, your neighborhood, what you do and your Instagram handle. Strait Journal can use them in its Instagram posts, including tagging you as a collaborator, and in articles on straitjournal.com.

Editing

We may trim an answer for length and clarity and fix spelling. We won't change what you meant. Before a post goes up, your private link shows you the finished slide to check.

No promise to publish

Sending an answer doesn't mean it will run. Space on Instagram is limited, so we pick a few answers each time, and some may appear in an article on straitjournal.com instead.

No payment

Detroit Voices is unpaid on both sides. Strait Journal doesn't pay for answers, and taking part costs you nothing.

What you send

You confirm that your answers are your own and true as far as you know, and that you took the photos you send or have the right to share them. Please don't send photos of other people without their OK.

Already published stays published

Once something has run on Instagram or straitjournal.com, it stays up.

Withdrawing

You can withdraw permission for anything new at any time with the one-tap link in any Detroit Voices email. We stop emailing you right away and won't use anything new from you, including answers you've sent that haven't run yet.

Age

Detroit Voices is for people 18 and older.

Your email

We use it only for Detroit Voices: the questions, and notes about your answers. We never sell or share it.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version applies to answers sent after the change, and we'll say so in the next email.
